We went on a short vacation to my husband’s family’s ranch in south Texas this past weekend. The property is stunning, and we like exploring it. The creatures we observe down there have captured our children’s attention. We spotted a once-in-a-lifetime creature this past weekend—a mountain lion! We were unable to catch a glimpse of it because they are quite evasive and move rapidly. Oh, I’m sorry! We did spot some beautiful does and their young, bobcats, feral goats, green jays, javalina, feral hogs, and coyotes.
We wear boots, long pants, and sleeves most of the time because the ground down there is covered in everything poisonous and spikey. It’s usually quite hot down there, but we were fortunate to get a cold front, so the temperature was ideal. Please ignore the black rings beneath my eyes. The children were so eager to see the animals that they woke up at five every morning. Dad and Mom weren’t as thrilled!
Here is a little south Texas outfit details:Jacket: I am in love with this utility jacket. It is so versatile and pairs with a glitzy necklace, plaid blanket scarf or on a ranch extravaganza weekend! Let’s face it…I don’t own much camo so this covered me!
Boots: I scored these Hunters on an awesome sale Costco had a few weeks back. It has been so wet in Texas and I have already worn them six times in two weeks. I paired them with these ruffle boot socks to make them a little cuter on the ranch.
Shirt: My mother in law loves this shirt and thinks it should be our new family moto! I couldn’t agree with her more. The men can have their bucks and ducks and we can have…DIAMONDS!!! Its got a bit of camo, a bit of bling and adds a little bit of fashion to the outdoors. We were able to sneak up on the deer and some javalina and I’m pretty sure it was because they loved this shirt and wanted a closer look!!!
Jeans: These jeans are a favorite brand of mine. They are comfy, dark denim and soft. What more could you ask for in a pair of skinnies?
