Here Are 16 Fall Accessories I’m Loving as a Fashion Editor

15

It’s fall fashion season, so I’ll be channeling my inner Rory Gilmore with plenty of turtlenecks and comforting sweaters. If you’re anything like me, you’re having a great time keeping up with the numerous fall trends, including sporty college and Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy Core. However, when it comes to accessories, I prefer to keep an open mind and stick to tried-and-true basics for the fall capsule wardrobe, with a few trendy options sprinkled in. In case you were wondering, here’s my autumn accessory wishlist, which includes items from some of my favorite companies such as Madewell, Mejui and Bombas.

1. Madewell The Essential Curve Shoulder Bag

Madewell always has a wonderful range of handbags, but this one stands out for two reasons. First, the graceful crescent shape is really popular right now—it has just the perfect amount of slouch to seem bohemian but is not completely shapeless. Furthermore, the adjustable shoulder strap allows me to experiment with different styles. The second is that gorgeous green suede. Yes, this bag is also available in neutral colors such as camel brown and black, as well as smooth leather, but the deep khaki shade above appears the most luxurious.

2. Urban Outfitters Wide Knit Headband Set

Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy is the unexpected style icon of fall 2025, and the broad cloth headband is one of her most basic outfit essentials. I’ve been wearing flexible fabric designs for about a decade, and I’m thrilled to see people taking on. They’re far more comfy than the hard plastic versions and are ideal for looking trendy on bad hair days. UO has seven color combinations to select from, but I’ll go with a basic black and white pair that would be CBK approved.

3. Mejuri Duet Mixed Ring

Mejuri has long been a favorite of mine for finding beautiful everyday jewelry that won’t break the bank, and I’m now eyeing this basic two-tone ring. It creates the illusion of stacked bands, with some space between them for added intrigue. Mixed metals are expected to be a popular trend this year, so having some items that eliminate the uncertainty of combining silver and gold would be useful.

4. Belle & Bloom Make It To Me Belt

It may seem strange to call belts a “trend” right now—they’ve never gone out of style—but they’re currently having a moment in the spotlight as the stars of the show rather than just supporting actors. Which is why I intend to add this vibrant leather piece to my wardrobe for those occasions when I want to make a big statement. The sleek form makes it appear far more costly than its price tag, and the lack of a hook and belt holes allows me to style it to suit both my waist and hips comfortably. In fact, I might purchase up both the chocolate brown above and the basic black…

5. Treasure & Bond Square Satin Scarf

A wide silky scarf is an extremely flexible accessory to have in your wardrobe because there are so many various ways to wear it. Fold it in half and wear it as a belt around your hips, just like a French woman. Tie the ends to two bangles to create a temporary handbag. Twist it into a gorgeous scarf top for vacation, or try one of the apparently hundreds of creative ways to tie a scarf around your head. This Nordstrom beauty can do it all (and more, I’m sure) for less than $40, plus it comes in a variety of lovely fabrics and patterns.

6. Bombas Lightweight Bow Quarter Socks

The perfect pair of socks can make or ruin an outfit. While millennials may struggle to move away from their cherished no-show styles, visible socks are the way to go this fall. Bombas manufactures some of the most comfortable shoes I’ve ever worn, whether for running or regular wear, so I’m confident this bow-adorned model will keep me cool and comfy even after a long day of racing about the city. They come in three colors: white, burgundy, and white with black bows, or you can get a three-pack for $60 that includes one of each.

7. Anthropologie Faux-Suede Doctor Bag

This elegant faux-suede outfit reminds me of The Row, but at a much lower price. This Anthropologie stunner is the perfect size for carrying all of my daily needs and more, with an adjustable crossbody strap and two easy-to-attach handles. There are also two inner pockets for smaller items like lip balm, keys, and ear pods that you don’t want to lose in the mix. Now I only need to pick whether I want black, chocolate brown, or rich burgundy.

8. Clyde Ellie Brimmed Scarf Hat

Head scarves are clearly a fashionable style right now, but so are hats of many types, and I predict them to become even more popular when temperatures drop. So why not have the best of both worlds with Free People’s combo hat-scarf? It has the shape and brim of a traditional baseball cap, with a soft back that can be knotted in a variety of ways. Pull the ends under your chin for an old Hollywood look, or back behind your head to highlight a sporty ponytail.

9. Jenny Bird Portia Earrings

These Jenny Bird lovelies feel both modern and retro at the same time, and they’re the ideal size for everyday use. They come in 14k gold or silver-dipped brass and are surprisingly light. The gently waving form reminds me of seashells or the ocean itself without being very literal, so they won’t appear out of place in mid-winter, when I’m unhappily not near any beaches. I anticipate that these will quickly become a staple in my earring rotation.

10. Elisa Johnson Lyna Sunglasses

Sixties fashions are definitely cool right now, and while Palm Springs pastels and Lilly Pulitzer patterns are making a comeback this summer, I plan to get my retro dose with some bug-eye sunglasses in the fall and winter. The round form and thick frames evoke Jackie O., but the blue lenses are actually quite light, acting more quirky than preppy. And, while these sunglasses are clearly on-trend for autumn 2025, they’re also a very timeless style, so they’re well worth the investment, in my opinion.

11. Roxanne Assoulin The Happy Cord Charm Bracelet

Camp-inspired cord jewelry has been quietly but steadily making its way into the zeitgeist, and I predict it to grow even more in the coming months—who doesn’t want a tiny reminder of sunny summer afternoons on the coldest winter days? This Roxanna Assoulin cutie is available in red, blue, and green, with the gold heart interchangeable for another hue or a gold letter. In fact, you can customize your order with up to three charms, or simply stick with the cord bracelet.

12. 8 Other Reasons Studded Belt

Adding to my belt collection, this studded piece adds just the right amount of edge to any ensemble without taking over the focus. It comes in black or camel brown with gold hardware and measures 38.5 inches in length, making it suitable for use as a waist belt. I love the rock-and-roll vibes of these classic studs, and I believe they’re exactly the right touch to make my go-to autumn outfit combo—jeans, T-shirt, cashmere sweater—feel immensely cooler.

13. Hammitt Kyle Bag

In the same way, this Hammitt shoulder bag may bring edge to even the most sophisticated outfits. It includes two removable straps: one longer adjustable strap and one fixed shoulder strap. In addition to the spacious zipped interior, there is a secret zippered pocket on the rear for easy access, which is the ideal size for your phone or card case. Did I mention that it comes in 14 different colors? Yes, this is a sleek purse that will look well with almost any fall ensemble.

14. J.Crew Two-Tone Pearl and Bead Necklace

Two-tone jewelry does not have to be limited to mixing gold and silver. Why not add some color into the mix? J.Crew is a terrific location to get high-end-looking necklaces, earrings, and bracelets without breaking the bank. This necklace’s blend of delicate pearls and somber green jewels strikes the perfect balance between preppy and boho, and the gold hardware adds the perfect finishing touch to make it look gloriously opulent. P.S. It’s likely that I’ll also add the matching earrings to my cart.

15. Janessa Leone Felix Straw Hat

Hats are hot, but instead of sticking with the more common wool wide-brim varieties or basic baseball caps for autumn, I’m hoping to be a little more creative with my headwear. Janessa Leone’s straw hat is similar in shape to a bucket hat but somewhat higher, giving it a ’50s or ’60s vibe that I adore. And because it’s made of black straw, I’ll be able to wear it from now until genuine winter.

16. Anthropologie Playful Pet Brooch

Taking inspiration from the royals, I intend to wear brooches in the coming months. But, rather than investing in some historically significant forms or $10 million diamonds (I wish), I believe the more entertaining option is to go with something a little unusual. As a result, I’m obsessed with this greyhound dog dressed in a comfortable bright red sweater and wearing its own small diamond brooch. It’s sassy, quirky, and just plain fun, and I adore how it adds a burst of color to my drab winter jackets. Plus, for less than $35, it’s perfectly within my plebeian budget.
