3 Reasons Every Parent Deserves a Kid-Free Vacation

6

Are you going on a vacation? Do you always take your kids? At least once a year, my husband and I plan a vacation without the kids. One of my favorite sayings is, “A vacation is with adults, a trip is with kids.” Not every trip we take is to some exotic far away spot. Actually, we usually drive approximately an hour away for a staycation. We are quite lucky that both of our parents reside nearby to watch our children. However, I understand that not everyone is as privileged. Perhaps you and a friend could swap kids?Tell them you’ll take their kids for two days, and then they can take your kids for two days. If your kids have a favorite babysitter, would she be willing to watch them overnight? While some parents struggle to accept the idea of leaving their kids behind, it’s important to remember that they’re having fun at home as well, and it can be really nice for them to spend time with other relatives. We’ve already planned another exciting trip for next year. It’s critical not to feel bad about doing this; instead, enjoy it (you deserve it!). However, there are numerous methods to pamper oneself while on vacation. For example, some customers enjoy utilizing NetJets to personalize their travel experience. Others like to try something altogether fresh. However, it is not enough to simply travel; you must also visit a location that you will enjoy. The globe is a vast place, so you have plenty of alternatives. For example, you can decide to spend your time in downtown Chicago Crowne Plaza, or you might choose a simple camping trip to help you get away from it all. Whatever you select, you’ll be able to handle it.

1.RECHARGE

Call me strange, but I have dreams about sleeping in or eating a cooked dinner while talking to an adult. Insanity, right! When I am at home I am ‘on’ 24/7. Breakfast, playtime, lunch, school, carpool, sports, dinner, bath, sleep, and work. The list never stops. I find myself being short with my children, snippy with my husband, and just plain exhausted. When I am on vacation, I can sleep in as long as I like. No one will wake me up at 6:50 wanting a waffle and milk. Meals- order room service, lounge by the pool and have someone serve you beverages and eat supper out. These things will truly allow you to rest.

2. FIND YOURSELF

Do you ever think, “What do I like?” I find myself cooking meals because I know my children will eat them, and we go to restaurants that they enjoy. I adore Chik-Fil-A just as much as everyone else, but I also enjoy a delicious steak and fresh steamed vegetables delivered on a warm plate. Is going grocery shopping with kids your idea of an adventure? I enjoy trying new things while on vacation. We’ve gone snorkelling, paddleboarding, whitewater rafting, and waterfall hiking. If your children are small, you will most likely be unable to take them on these adventures. Besides, I don’t always want to pack goldfish in my bag!

3. RECONNECT

This is a great time to reconnect with your spouse or significant other. My spouse and I recently went to Myrtle Beach and stayed at the Marriott Grande Dunes Resort, where we relaxed by the pool, had lunch together, and had one-on-one conversations without anyone interrupting to wipe their rear end in the middle of the conversation. Later in the day, we took a two-mile walk down the beach, discussing our adult interests, bucket list ideas, and our future plans. Time away from your children allows you to reconnect.

If you were going on vacation kid free, where would you go?
