I’m a Mom of 3, and This Is the One Toy I’m Stocking Up On This Prime Day

23

I don’t say this lightly, but I think I may have found the unicorn of children’s toys: open-ended, dishwasher-safe, mess-free, screen-free, and fascinating enough to keep my husband, my three-year-old, and my six-year-old sitting on the floor and playing together for a whole forty-five minutes. (Although he will have to wait a few more years, my baby wants to join in on the fun too!)

Currently, it’s on sale on Amazon Prime Day under the name Clixo (was $60, now $48). P.S.S. Prime Day, which begins on July 8 and ends on July 11, 2025, offers discounts in every category, including Prime Day electronics sales and beauty specials.

After a buddy raved about them, we first purchased a tiny pair a few weeks ago, and I was immediately captivated. As the name suggests, each component snaps together with a gratifying click, resembling a flexible, magnetic building tile. The outcome? There are countless configurations that enable my 3-year-old to construct—well, something spherical that she refers to as a kitty rocket ship—and my 6-year-old to construct complex flying vehicles. To be honest, both pieces are equally amazing. Since then, we’ve purchased another set, which makes me regret not purchasing the 42-piece set in the first place.

So far we’ve made caterpillars, robots, race cars, planes and rolling balls, or sometimes we just use them as fidget toys and click them together with no goal in mind. There is no right or wrong way to play with it, which is its charm. My hubby eventually joins in on the fun. Even though the firm claims that the items are meant for children between the ages of four and ten, my three-year-old has thoroughly enjoyed creating her own.

Extra? Clixo is really convenient for traveling. All of it folds up into a small package that I can fit in my purse or carry-on for trips to restaurants, lengthy car drives, and soccer matches between siblings. I can just put the pieces in the dishwasher if they get dirty—I might have dropped them in an airport restroom stall, for example.

In terms of open-ended play and limitless possibilities, it is comparable to Magna-Tiles, another one of our home MVPs. However, Clixo may have the advantage: It’s slightly less priced, more portable, and equally sturdy. (Note: Although both toys are quite pricey, they are the kind that are truly played with repeatedly.)At full price, it already feels worth it. But now that it’s marked down for Prime Day? I want to buy one for every kid I know (and their parents, too).
